The Tamil Nadu Prisoners Welfare Council (TNPWC) is strengthening rehabilitation and livelihood opportunities for prisoners and released prisoners by establishing corporate partnerships for vocational training and skill development. Through collaborations with industry bodies, sector skill councils, and private employers, TNPWC facilitates market-relevant training programmes inside prisons and in post-release settings.
These partnerships help prisoners acquire certified skills in trades such as tailoring, carpentry, electrical work, digital literacy, food processing, handicrafts, logistics support, and other industry-driven skill areas. For released prisoners, TNPWC works with corporate partners to provide advanced training, apprenticeship pathways, and job placement support, enabling sustainable livelihoods and reducing the risk of re-offending.
By aligning correctional rehabilitation with industry needs, TNPWC promotes employability, financial independence, and social reintegration, making the initiative a model for collaborative, rehabilitation-focused corrections in India.
