The Central Advisory Committee of the Tamil Nadu Prisoners Welfare Council (TNPWC) is purely an advisory body that provides guidance on crucial matters concerning prisoner welfare, rehabilitation, and reintegration. It also serves as the conscience-keeper of TNPWC, ensuring that all initiatives uphold ethical standards, social responsibility, and alignment with government policies.
The committee comprises experienced representatives from government departments, the Tamil Nadu Prison Department, corporate partners, and civil society organisations. While it has no executive or governing authority, it advises on academic collaborations, research projects, vocational training, corporate partnerships, and other key programmes, ensuring that TNPWC’s work remains effective, ethical, and socially responsive.
