As Director of TNPWC, Dr. Maheshwar Dayal IPS (1997 batch, Tamil Nadu cadre) oversees initiatives for the reformation, rehabilitation, and reintegration of soon-to-be-released and released prisoners across Tamil Nadu.
Dr. Dayal currently serves as the Director General of Prisons and Correctional Services, Tamil Nadu. Over his distinguished career, he has held key positions including Superintendent of Police in multiple districts, Deputy Commissioner of Police in urban areas, and Commandant of Tamil Nadu Special Police. He has also served as IGP, Economic Offences Wing, and on central deputation as DIG, CISF and Deputy Director General, Bureau of Civil Aviation Security. Additionally, he has held critical operational roles as IG, Anti-Naxal Operations in Jharkhand and IG, CoBRA, CRPF. Dr. Dayal is an alumnus of the prestigious National Defence College.
With his extensive background in policing, security operations, administrative leadership, and academics, Dr. Dayal brings a unique perspective to prisoner welfare initiatives. Under his leadership, TNPWC supports reforms and programs such as counselling, skill development, and post-release reintegration for prisoners.
