The Tamil Nadu Prisoners Welfare Council (TNPWC) is creating structured internship opportunities for students across Tamil Nadu by empanelling students from psychology, law, criminology, and social work programmes. Through this initiative, TNPWC provides supervised field exposure within prisons, after-care services, counselling programmes, legal-aid support, and community reintegration projects.
The empanelled students will gain hands-on experience in areas such as rehabilitation planning, casework, sentence and release planning, prisoner welfare schemes, impact assessments, and documentation of reintegration practices. By offering these internships in collaboration with universities and colleges, TNPWC aims to develop a trained pool of professionals equipped to contribute to modern correctional welfare, mental-health support, and evidence-based policy interventions in the criminal justice system.
